Yes, you should gift with notes!

Sometimes an item reminds you of someone or something.

If it’s someone, you’d want to gift them that item because you think it suits them perfectly or it is appropriate for that situation.

Who can say what the heart picks up on, right? It just dawned on me that that’s my best type of gifting. The type that comes with a quirky note explaining why the gift suits me or is appropriate.

Turns out most people love this as well.

A thoughtful note can transform the smallest gift into the most treasured piece. I say this because it has worked for me and on me. Not always easy to write one especially if you don’t have something nice to say, so I recommend this only for people you care truly about.

First be yourself, sarcastic, sweet, edgy, anything but bitter. The real you. Don’t be afraid of vulnerability. To help you get started, you can make the connection between the feature of the gift and the receiver. You can also use easy tricks like if your friend is celebrating their 24th birthday, you write 24 things you like about them. Might be cliche but the most important thing is, it is from your heart, and your earnest sentiments are conveyed.

You can write a long note or keep it short. I highly recommended you keep it short. You can pack a punch in 3 -5 lines.

I was listening to Enya’s Only Time and reminiscing on my year (I’ll share stuff on this later) when I saw a draft note I penned for a friend when I wanted to gift her the bath and bodywork sequin nights set. See it below

Something about sequin nights reminded me of you

Glam, bold, and sparkling

From the moment I saw you till this very day,

You’ve had stars in your eyes, beautiful dreams, and the grit to match

This gift is my way of saying I saw it,

Still see it

You’re awesomely inspiring,

Keep twinkling

With Love,

During the festive season, a lot of people exchange gifts as a sign of love or care. Do not hold back from spreading cheer and joy to friends just because you can’t gift them expensive items. Gift what you can afford and up the value by expressing yourself beautifully on a thoughtful note.

If they are truly your friends, they would appreciate this lovely gesture.

Happy Holidays!
